The Ramblings of a Crusty Old Sailor - Recognition of U.S. Army Master Sergeant, Gary Sinise Foundation Ambassador, and R.I.S.E. home recipient, John Masson.

We recognize U.S. Army Master Sergeant, Gary Sinise Foundation Ambassador, and R.I.S.E. home recipient, John Masson. John served as an Army Ranger for 17 years in Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, and was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In 2010, while in Afghanistan, John stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED) and lost three extremities. Masson received the Purple Heart for his injuries and a second Bronze Star medal for his actions in combat. “It is important for me to support the Gary Sinise Foundation so that I may honor the countless selfless acts of all our nation's defenders," Masson said. "It's for all the sacrifices of those men and women who came before us, those now among us, and for those who will surely follow in order to secure America's freedom.”
